Pioneer Claus Lundsgaard
Claus Lundsgaard, founder of Dynamostol, was ahead of his time. Suffering from severe back pain in his 50s, he realised that conventional office chairs weren't designed to support the body's natural need for movement. At the age of 55, he made it his mission to change this.
Drawing on his own experiences, Claus set out to create a chair that would allow people to sit in a way that supported balance, posture and freedom of movement throughout the working day. He believed that sitting didn't have to mean being still - and that better design could reduce strain, prevent injury and increase energy.
His vision led to the development of a new kind of ergonomic chair that would go on to improve the working lives of thousands of people.
Today, Claus is 99 years old and lives a peaceful life with his wife of 90 years in a charming terraced house in Fredensborg. Surrounded by friends and nature, he remains an inspiring example of how movement - no matter how small - can contribute to a longer, healthier life.
Dynamostol continues to build on Claus’ pioneering ideas, helping people move better, sit smarter, and live well.

Jacob & Philip – Carrying the Vision Forward
Since 2002, brothers Jacob and Philip Lundsgaard have led the daily management of Dynamostol, continuing the legacy started by their father, Claus Lundsgaard. With a deep respect for the original vision - creating chairs that support movement, balance and wellbeing - they have brought new energy and direction to the company.
Where Claus pioneered the idea of active sitting, Jacob and Philip have worked to refine the design, expand the product range and bring Dynamostol’s philosophy into modern workplaces across Europe. Their focus has been clear: to combine functionality, simplicity and ergonomic innovation in a way that improves everyday working life.
Under their leadership, Dynamostol has evolved from a niche idea into a recognised brand known for quality, craftsmanship and a deep understanding of the body’s need to move - even while sitting.
With strong values and a close-knit team, Jacob and Philip continue to drive Dynamostol forward, developing chairs that challenge the norms of traditional seating.
